    A rough estimate indicates that under these conditions we are detecting one pion per MeV at 3 MeV above threshold per 3000 events.
    This gives about 4266 pions summed over runs 2412 - 2444. This is to be compared to 28000 pions expected at 3 MeV above threshold for the entire run.
