    keyword=Right Q1 work yesterday (05-12-08)

    Scot replaced the 1k ohm current limiting resistor on the lower output contactor solenoid. The resistor had aged and burnt out. Scot also replaced a spade lug connector that had considerable corrosion on it. He found the corrosion to be mostly on the surface of the lug, likely residue from the plastic sleeving burning off. The indication of the failure was the power supply making a loud repetitive clunking, as the contactor was constantly cycling closed and open. The resistor on the upper contactor had previously been replaced and looked in good shape. Upon inspection of the Left Q1 supply we found the resistor on the lower contactor to be in good shape. Scot had replaced that one in august 2005. The signs of corrosion on a spade lug there seemed to be the same as Scot remembered from before. So, we assume no further problem with it. The resistor on the upper contactor was showing some signs of age. The replacement resistors require a different mounting bracket, so we decided to put the replacement of the upper resistor on the list for the summer down; not try to replace it now. Scot found some brackets in the spares drawer and assembled two resistors in them.
