    The flakey signal must be from the "dark current" which after amplification becomes significant to make a burst, even if the HV of the PMTs were turned off. I am facing this situation in my PVDIS setup, where I am using a PMT signal as my high rate randoms. After unplugging the PMT signal cables, this anomaly would be vanished, if the culprit was the "dark current".
