keyword=Detector testing for CSR thickness measurement

Define scope of work : Setting up of the NaI detector for later measurement of thickness through X-ray attenuation method using an Am241 source as a source of X- ray. Today work will be the optmization of the gains and testing of the detector to be able to observe the 60 keV X-ray line from the Am241 source.

The final measurement will be done using this setup associated with two motorized axis for an accurate scanning of the surface of the foil which needs to be measured, this will be covered in another entry when the actual measurement will take place.

Potential hazard analysis : - radioactive source Am241 -HV for detector

Hazard mitigation : - the source will be handled following the RadCon training rules by Radiation Worker 1 and source trained operator : Alexandre Camsonne and Maria Chevtsova. The room will be posted as controlled area where dosimeter will be worn. And the operator of the source will make sure that people not involved in the measurement stay away from the setup.

-detector HV : the detector is using HV up to 800 V at a low current of less than a 1 mA, the detector is already setup using insulated RG59 cables and the power supply are grounded properly. So no risks are expected on this side since the detector and its cabling checked to be good will not be changed during the test.
