keyword=Day Shift Summary, November 4, 2008: Election Day!

08:00 Shift starts taking data smoothly. The polls are open; the lines
    are long.

08:45 MCC called to let us know that they are going to start their beam
studies and are taking the beam away. Requested Controlled Access. An
NMR measurement was performed on the target. The result is: ~50% EPR
    didn't quite work, though.

12:00 It turns out the lines are long to get into the hall, too. Target
work is being done. Detector problems are being sorted out. It's a busy
place. Brad just showed us a picture of a target (optics) badly damaged
    by an apparently wayward beam.

13:50 MCC is working on bring the hall back to Beam Permit for the beam
    studies beam dump.

15:00 Still waiting on MCC's beam studies...I think. We're in Power
Permit. As it happens, Brad just called to see "what's up?" He's going
to call the crew chief and see what's going on.

    15:05 Requested Controlled Access.

15:41 With the hall back in controlled access, there are now hot & cold
running physicists trying to fix up the target ladder & some other
electronics/DAQ stuff. Joe is going to wait on putting the optics target
back together for some parts to come from the shop that he needs to put
    all 7 foils in.

16:00 Hall in controlled access and everyone is busily working on their
    tasks.
