MCC concluded that the accelerator could not support 5.9 GeV/c beam after the loss of 1L04, degradation of adjacent modules, and significantly reduced capacity in the CHL. The decision was made to drop the 5-pass beam energy to 4.73 GeV/c. This allows both Hall A and C to simultaneously take data with a polarization of ~73% of maximum and a very reasonable (estimated) RF trip rate.

If things go well we could be taking beam during Swing shift tonight. We will take production data on BigBite and positron data in the LHRS until Friday day shift. On Friday we will switch the polarity of the LHRS to negative and continue production running through the weekend.

This should allow us to complete our 4.73 GeV/c program with reasonable statistics. Our 5.9 GeV/c dataset is already in pretty good shape.
