    We are taking low momentum (700 MeV/c) RHRS data (LHRS data being taken as usual) as a test to see pions in RHRS as a parasitic test for PVDIS. Shown in Figure 1 are pion signals. Whats shown is the following:

    First row of histograms belong to a pion run, second row belongs to the same set of histograms for a run where "we used to say we could not see any pion". The third row is again for the current pion-run and the fourth row shows the corresponding histograms where there were no pions.

    It looks like we are seeing at least 20 times more pions than we used to see earlier. The histograms were produced from a small subset of data. The conclusion is that this test looks promising.
