Shift Summary   Swing Shift   October 2 2009   (HAPPEX-III)

    D. Armstrong (SL)
    A. Narayan (TO)
    R. Silwal (3rd)

16:00 Status at start of shift:
    - Beam on, 99 µA Run 12889 underway
    - production on lH2 (25 cm cell), about 90% the way through slug 16 (IHWP = IN)
            (the slug that lasted forever)
    - Charge feedback on (PITA) and is updating.

    Run 12889 41.3 K good pairs
    Run 12890 44.6 K good pairs
    Run 12891 15.8 K good pairs; Total on slug 16: 985.1 K good pairs

18:25: Compton Photon detector HV trip; reset. Correlated with beam trip?
Beam up to this time has been nice and steady, only 4 or 5 trips/hour.
MCC calls - beam off due to "capture water temperature".

19:03: Beam is available again; ask for 5 muA. Run spot++ - raster looks good, beam position nominal. Megan asks for short run at this current for the Compton.

19:12: ask MCC for 100 µA and ask for IHWP=OUT. Run flipper - slug number is now 17.
Ouch - flipper does not work because of X11 connection issue. I had used ssh -Y apar@adaql1...
try again using a different terminal. This time flipper works (I don't increment slug number this second time)

Run 12892 - short run, 100 µA, IHWP=out but PC settings not updated
    (see above)
Run 12893 39.3 good pairs (IHWP out, correct Pockels Cell and Hall C C
    IA settings now in)

Megan reports seeing electron-photon coincidences in the Compton FADC! (see elog 292797).
    Run 12894 47.4 K good pairs
Run 12895 3.6 K good pairs (run ended due to beam off)

21:27: Compton Photon detector HV trip; reset. Beam is off again due to water temperature problem in capture cavity; same problem as earlier in the shift. Last time it recovered spontaneously. This time they are calling in an expert, but hoping it will recover again on its own. See: MCC elog.
Run 12896 - pedestal run (100 K events), no beam
Run 12897 - pedestal run (100 K events), no beam, switched to HapnoQqweak
    configuration
Run 12898 - pedestal run (88.6 K events), no beam HapnoQweak

23:35 Beam is available again. EES had to replace a valve actuator motor on the LCW system for the capture cavity in the injector.

Ask for 5 µA. Run spot++, check beam positions,
raster size. All looks fine, ask for 100 µA. CODA Configuration back to Happex

       Back to Production!

    Run 12899 - underway

    Shift ends.
