RC report (Oct. 6 Owl shift ~ Oct. 8 Owl shift)
(This is my last RC report. Thanks a lot to all the people's efforts
during my RC period to keep the experiment running)
- Tuesday, Oct. 6
- Take production data till 1:30am. L-arm Q1 tripped and
recovered by power cycling. Around 4;30am, RC was paged since L-arm
dipole magnet tripped.
Jack also showed up and found that it could not be recovered
immediately. Decided to run with R-arm only and left it till 8:00am.
- Around 7:40am, all the magnets were down in both arms.
Asked for a controlled access to fix the magnets.
At the same time, Rupesh did some tests for Happex3. There were also
some PVDIS works in the hall.
- Around 11:00am, R-arm HV kept tripping. Brad was paged and
fixed it in the Hall.
- Around 1:00pm, start beam recovery and check beam quality,
then take production data with R-arm dipole ramping up.
- Around 3:30pm, R-arm dipole was back. Start to take real
production data.
- From 5:30pm, Kent and Diancheng did some tests on compton
electron detector.
- Wednesday, Oct. 7
- During the Owl shift, keep taking producton data. BCM12
saturated a while, then came back to normal. Around 6:00am, Rupesh did
some Det linearity tests.
- Around 8:00am, Megan did some compton detector tests. Then
start to take prodcution data around 10:00am.
- Around 1:30pm, Kent and Jack went to the Hall and change
the limit switch on compton electron detector.
- Around 5:00pm, Move HWP in and start to take data for slug
20.
- Around 6:30pm, Beam was dwon due to a CHL problem.
- Around 10:00pm, beam was back. Check beam quality and
start to take production data.
- Around 11:40pm, beam was down due to a CHL problem again.
- Wednesday, Oct. 8
- Still no beam when the Owl shift started. Rupesh and Megan
asked for a controlled access to do some works in the Hall.
- Around 3:00am, The works in the Hall were done and Hall
went to beam permit.
- Around 5:40am, Beam was back. Check beam quality and start
to take production data.
- Around 6:30am, Target temperature is unstable, fluctuating
between 17.0K and 19.7K. Reboot target IOCs to get it stable.
- Around 7:30pm, target JT value is very high, ~ 60, but the
cryo flow rate is low, only 25.0g/s.
Paged target expert for help to make JT value and cryo
flow rate reasonalbe. Target operator will put a HALOG for the reference
in the future.
Coulombs So Far
- We are curerntly on slug#20 (IHWP IN)
- Coulombs taken in this time period (since Tuesday 0:00am) : 8.0 C
- Coulombs taken in all so far: 113.5 C as of Thursday 11:30am.
Concerns
- Please always check online hists and compare them to the
reference ones.
- If you find something strange or wrong, please HALGO it so
that the expert can check it.
- Target Operator, please always check target PID system and
strip plots to make sure all the systems work.
The cryo flow rate around 25.2g/s and JT value is around
55.5 since this is better for Lumi widths.
Please be patient when you adjust the JT value since it
may take a few minutes to make the cryo flow rate stable.
