keyword=Run Coordinator summary (Oct. 8 ~ Oct. 9)
RC report (Oct. 8 Day shift ~ Oct. 9 Swing shift)
RC report (Oct. 8 Day shift ~ Oct. 9 Swing shift)
Thursday, Oct. 8
- About 8:00 Beam was off to tune the Hall C orbit to reach
higher current.
- Right before noon, beam was restored, but the Compton HV started
to trip with beam trips.
- Around 12:30 the Compton HV began to trip continuously.
- 13:30 Beam is taken away for Compton tuning. Shortly thereafter,
it is decided that the injector needs serious tuning before the Compton
work can begin.
- Beam briefly returned around 18:30, but the current was limited
to 50 uA and work resumed to fix the problems with the beam.
- 21:15 Beam was returned to the halls and production data taking
continued at 100 uA, but the Compton rates were extremely high.
- Megan worked with MCC on the Compton rates into the beginning of
Owl shift.
Friday, Oct. 9
- Continue production data taking at 100 uA.
- Compton rates still high, but the tune cannot be improved over
night.
Edet and photon detector were moved out of the beam for safety and
HV's turned off.
- During owl shift the lumi widths were a bit wider at
1300-1400 ppm.
In day shift, they returned to ~ 1100 ppm.
- 09:05-09:25 Beam away to investigate Hall B optics. Harp
scans indicate their beam has a shoulder.
- 10:50 MCC takes beam away to improve beam delivery in Hall
B, which eventually leads to more injector work.
- Near the end of day shift, the injector was restored to a
previous time (Sept. 15) when things were running smoother with
adjustments
for the current running conditions.
- Around 17:45, beam was restored to the hall. However the Compton
rates were still unreasonably large.
- HAPPEx production resumed at 18:15, while the problematic Compton
rates were contemplated.
- 21:10 Dustin began low current calibration studies involving HRS
Q2 measurements, aluminum dummy measurements and HRS optics
checks.
- MCC noticed by inserting the 1C12 OTR that the Hall A beam was
not round and had a tail.
A +4 degree change in the A laser phase helped with the tail, but this
did not appear to improve the Compton rates.
- Afterwards the low current tests are completed, Alexandre will
work with MCC to invesitgate the Compton rates.
Coulombs So Far
- We are currently on slug#20 (IHWP IN)
- Coulombs taken in this time period (since Thursday 11:30am) : 3.2 C
- Coulombs taken in all so far: 114.2 C as of Friday 9:00am.
- The accumulated charge was adjusted to account for a pedestal
correction on bcm2.
- This resulted in a charge reduction of 10% for slug 19 and what has
been taken for 20 so far.
Concerns
- Please always check online hists and compare them to the
reference ones.
- If you find something strange or wrong, please HALOG it so
that the expert can check it.
- Target Operator, please always check target PID system and
strip plots to make sure all the systems work.
The cryo flow rate around 25.2g/s and JT value is around
55.5 since this is better for Lumi widths.
The flow rate and JT value setting are sensitive to the outside
temperature. Hence the
settings may change from morning to evening.
Please be patient when you adjust the JT value since it
may take a few minutes to make the cryo flow rate stable.
