Summary for May 24 Swing - May 25 Day
Pedestal Runs
- run from 4038 to 4050 with ~4.1 million events
Target Vacuum and O-ring
- The new O-ring Kalrez 7075 delivered at the lab at 11:00am
- Replaced the old O-ring (see picture O-ring picture) with the new one and start pumping down the vacuum
- 1:30 pm: the situation of the vacuum does not present any major leak at the moment, keep pumping down.
- 3:00 pm: vacuum at 800 mtor. No major leak found at the moment with the vacuum. The turbo-pump will be on at the end of the day (when the pressure will be below 500mtor)
Heating and cooling the target
- The reley are on order (the only spare one at the lab has a maximum of 6A as output and just the cooling (at regime) runs 10A). Thes e ones will have 30A maximum output.
- At the moment we are going to switch from cooling to heating manually (having an access in the Hall, unplugging the cooling aqnd plugging the heating in the outlet (and viceversa)). The time frame in order to do this will be around 1-2 hours when the beam is out. Possible issues with this method can happen when (hopefully not) we will be running on the edge of the vacuum failure. Switching from heating to cooling will need to be done before the beam recovery procedure (which takes more than 1 hour). In the mean time the vacuum (if will have the same behaviour with the temperature) could consistently pass the 10^(-4) limit (and the valve will close). As R. Michaels pointed out, the priority goes to the heating remote relay (it will need some shielding to hold consistently). The important part of the relay will be the capability to turn it off remotely (to turn it on one has a 1-2 hours time window to have an access in the Hall, while the target is cooling down).
- Heidi is installing some extension cord, so that one will be able to unplug and plug the cooler and the heater outside of the High radiation area
Left arm cables
- J. Wexler changed the cables in the left arm (see entry Logbook entry )
