    The frontends are all FASTBUS. Typical FASTBUS speed is 100 ns/32-bit word (4 bytes), or 25 ns/byte (e.g. http://www.lecroy.com/lrs/dsheets/1877.htm). The event size is about 4 kB. So it takes some 100 us to read out the frontends. At 1 kHz, I expect around 10% deadtime. What am I missing?
