keyword=HPH settings for different targets
We had to adjust the JT valve to get the reserve power for the 15 cm LH2 target up to 40 uA. When we started, the inlet temperature was 14.65 K and the flow rate was 19.5 g/s.
We slowly opened the loop 2 JT valve to get 60*(40/10)+50=290 W on the HPH (with no beam). We closed the loop 1 JT valve down in the process of doing this, and the total flow rate was 22 g/s. The inlet temperature was fluctuating and went to 14.78 K at one point, but seemed okay otherwise.
We chose to run with the 4 cm target overnight, so we closed down the JT valve on loop 2, but left the loop 1 settings where they were. If we decide to run on the 15cm LH2 target at up to 40uA, we should only have to adjust the loop 2 JT valve.
At the JT settings we ended up with, we got:
15 cm, 20 uA, 142 W HPH
15cm, 30 uA, 117 HPH
and 260 W with beam off.
