keyword=Funky HAND scaler GUI readings
Or pointed out some funkyness with the HAND scaler GUI. If one turns off
a tube, the scaler rate on the scaler GUI should go to zero. It does if
there is no CODA run in progress. However, if there is a run going on,
then that channel will still show a lower but non-zero value.
It turns out that this is real and due to the EDTM (Electronic Dead Time
Monitor.) Apparantly the EDTM injects hits into all the TDC channels
periodically. While the analysis presumably knows how to ignore these
hits, the software scaler software does not.
If there is a channel in ROC8 that receives these EDTM pulses, but is not
connected to a tube, I could probably correct for the EDTM in the HAND
scaler GUI.
