This is the short description of the work done on the RQ1 during the target changeover. It appears the panel voltmeters, which are supposed to be monitoring the voltage drops on the warm-to-cold lead transistions inside the magnet, were actually wired to monitor the voltage across the leads; the full voltage across the magnet. The wiring from the meters to the magnet was throughly verified. It seems as if the wiring inside the feedthrough on the magnet was not done as originally intended. Based on how the wiring was done at the panel meters it looks like an unsuccessful attempt was made to correct this. I changed the wiring in the connector mounted at the rear of the chassis which has the panel meters. Things seem to work as desired. There might still be some problems with the panel meters themselves, but that will have to wait for another time. The wiring and signals for the coil voltage monitoring circuits seems to be correct. I went over to look at the LQ1, but the target cooldown caused the magnets to dump and interrupted the work. Based on the initial look, the LQ1 does not seem to have the same issue as the RQ1 had. However, it has its own set of problems that can be addressed in the future.
