    keyword=Right Dipole ramping down

    The Octagon controller for the Right Dipole was still responding, but the control program had terminated. Restarting the program would do many bad things, it assumes you are starting from 0 amps. James Proffit detailed a procedure to edit the control program before executing it. It was fondly named the "Flying Reset Procedure". See https://hallaweb.jlab.org/tech/Detectors/public_html//magnets/high_resolution_spectrometers/dipole/right_arm_dipole_specific/right_dipole_octagon_computer_flying_reset_procedure.htm No, you are not allowed to use this, unless Javier says you may. I took the laptop hacweb6 up under the boxbeam; connected the B&B RS-232 USB Adapter; started Hyperterm; set the parameters to 9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no handshake; removed the serial cable from the breakout panel for the Greenspring serial card (located at the top of the rack); using a gender changer, but no null modem adapter, I plugged that end into the B&B RS-232 USB Adapter. I then followed the "Flying Reset Procedure". On the first attempt to enter 0.0 amps in the EPICS GUI the magnet went up a couple of amps and settled there. On the second attempt to enter 0.0 amps in the EPICS GUI the magnet began to ramp down normally. It should reach 0 amps at 11:40AM.
