There are several codes available for estimating electron rates and backgrounds
for inelastic electron scattering. However, they are based on different
mechanisms and give out different results for the kinematics of E99-117. The
pion background is predicted to be high, which will be the crucial point of
the following data analysis. Positron background is also predicted to be
nontrivial and positron runs are necessary.
To further pin down the event rates, testruns have been done in August of 2000
and the results were compared to different codes. The final rates are results
from whitlow for electron, rosetail for elastic tail, and from wiser for pion
and positron, plus a correction factor obtained from the testruns.
