Eric showed an update of the quad scans where he scaled the asymmetry data to Azz by a single factor. The data appear to agree well near the central values of the scans with disagreement coming in the outer regions where the rates are dropping and our confidence in the Monte Carlo is more shaky. He also demonstrated a proof of concept of a new method for finding a stable optics configuration. Basically, the idea is to set Q2 and Q4 at the nominal settings for a given beam energy and then to scan Q1 until a local minimum in the asymmetry is found. The demonstration appeared to show that Q2 and Q4 could be detuned by 10% and yet arrive at essentially the same Azz when Q1 is scanned to the find the local minimum of Azz. Needs more vetting, but looks hopeful. Eric will add rate plots to his slides on the quad scan data to MC comparison and plans to compare Levchuk corrections with Bill.

Simona could not make it but sent an email update which is reproduced here.

Hi Guys, I won't be able to participate in the meeting today (Hall work) but here is a Moller update:

--> the target motion system is ready (Ethan got the pieces from the machine shop last week and did the installation); he still needs to test the motion to make sure everything is working O.K.

--> Dave Meekins got even busier with other things and did not attempt to install the Copper foil yet but there is time; he is aware of the deadline and he will make it (I asked the survey group to do the target survey anytime after May 20th)

--> Yves got back to me about running 1 muA on the 4 micron target without too many ion chambers trips: he said it's not a problem; with new ion chambers calibrations and also a procedure of "how to do things efficiently" which they wrote down since commissionning it will work.

--> Today the scintillator PMTs have been delivered to my office. I will do a dark box test next week and I will install them in the detector shortly after.

--> next week I will also work on getting the 4 BPM signals into the scaler module.

In two weeks from now I will give another DAQ update (including the TDC readout).

That's all I have for this week.

Have a good week,

Simona
