  • Wouter: Simulations Updates
    • Back in December full GDML implementation of pion detector is now in its own branch for development. It includes a virtual detector plane with vacuum kryptonite, which kills all particle past virtual plane. Mostly to be used by Scott for investigation of particle types and rates beyond the lead wall. Jacob will be looking at the actual optical simulation of pion detector system elements. The lucite blocks and light-guides.
    • Presently some issues with the optical photon modeling in the pion branch. Some minor geometry overlaps along with internal limits that kill optical photons. These limits have to be modified so that those events can be read out to the rootfile in the end. This need to be fixed before Jacob or Scott can look at optical photons.
    • Pion branch simulation is stable and working. Full optical simulation take about 6 seconds per event(presently this is to large), without optical photons turned on it is about 10 milliseconds per event in the virtual plane, 300 ms for pion detector simulation without optical photons.
    • Continues to work on modeling e- + e+ to mu- + mu+ background with some Madgraph tools. Here is the link for reference: Wouter's Madgraphs Work in progress, needs to be polished. For the Wiser code, Geant4 does allow muon production in secondaries and such. So that is being taken into account in our simulation.
    • In general, will have to identify the dominate source of muon background.
  • General cycle of work from WM's side will be result presentation at this meeting, looking for feedback, for further discussion later in the day at our local pion meeting where both of the students will be present.
