Contents
Beam no LHRS, no solid target, no cryo target
We will start with a 5 passes beam. The tasks below appear roughly in order of priority, one assumes that we have solid targets in place.
Getting beam threaded down to the dump for the first time
Beam quality optimization study
Goal: optimize beam quality to limit noise in calorimeter
Need: working Compton photon detector with appropriate HV and threshold settings, working Compton DAQ that can provide scaler data to the appropriate EPICS channel
Contact: Eric Fuchey for Compton, Jay, MCC support for beam manipulation)
BPM calibration
Goal: check response of the BPMs to know motion of the beam
Need: Harps working, BPMs reading at least through EPICS, 5uA beam
Method: For each of the following approximative beam position, record beam position with the BPMS and with the harps. Beam position : (0,0), (0,2), (0,-2), (2,0), (-2,0)
Contact: J. Roche.
BCM calibration
Goal: calibrate BCM readings between 0 and 20 uA, with special care to readings between 2 and 7 uA
Need: BCMs reading at least through EPICS
Method: MCC procedure (MCC-PR-04-008) [[1]]
Contact: J. Roche
Raster size calibration
Goal: to check the raster size against effective readout.
Need: BPM calibration, 5uA, BPM readings in a coda file to be able to run spot++ (Need to define DAQ setting, from He3 wiki page : TS3??)
Method: vary the size of the raster, take one run for each of the following MCC unit raster size (3*2), (7*5), (10*8), produce spot++ image at each setting. Those settings are taken off that page [[2]]
Contact: J. Roche
Energy measurement
Goal: to know the beam energy to 10-4
Need:the ninth dipole to work
Method:MCC procedure MCC-PR-04-006 [[3]]
Contact: A. Saha
Compton work??
Not sure what to put here... Can we do things with the 5-pass beam?
Contact: C. Hyde??
Cavity monitors checkout
Again not sure what goes there...
Beam with no LHRS, no cryo target but solid target
Center beam on target
Goal: get the beam to hit the center of the holed carbon foil
Need: BPMs reading at least through EPICS, Lumi scaler readings??, Calo anode current readings??
Method:??
Contact: C. Munoz Camacho
Establish maximum luminosity sustainable by calo
Goal: to define luminosity at which we are getting too many pile-up in the ARS (not ideal on the carbon target...
Method: ??
Contact: C. Munoz Camacho
Elastic counts in the Calorimeter
Goal: exercise our reading of the calo
Need: solid Carbon target, ARS readout, to define the calo angle, distance to target
Method: ??
Contact: C. Munoz Camacho
Beam without any cryo and with some cryo to LHRS and Moeller
Moeller commissioning
Goal:
Need: some cryo to cool down the solenoid
Method:
Contact: J. Zhang
LHRS re-commissioning
Jack Segal says that the LHRS power supplies have seen major repairs over the down and will require re-commissioning once the magnets are cold and can handle full current. He's estimating 2--3 day shifts (which includes some time for dealing with problems that may come up).
