Discussion of GEANT4. Eric implemented Bill's quad/dipole field settings into G4. Hits plot looks rotated and lots of events hitting quads and collimators. He will start by turning off the target holding field to investigate cause.
Discussion of GEANT3. No new discussion of G3.
Kerr discussion. Target polishing continues. Dave Gaskell informed me that Dave Meekins said the new target ladder is in the queue at the JLab machine shop.
Update from Javier: " The magnet status is as follows. The magnet has been leak checked three times - all of them negative. This leaves us with two possibilities only - either the magnet was not pumped properly the previous time or the leak is internal (through the pulse-tube refrigerator). We do not think that the last option is likely but we will check for it when we start the cool down of the magnet. A large turbo pump has been connected to the magnet through a pressure relief port to get, hopefully, better pumping than that provided by the standard port which has a small diameter tube. Concerning the electrical power for the compressor/water chiller - after various misunderstandings with our facilities department, Jack/Ethan ordered some electrical connectors that should help us start the system soon.
In the mean time, the accelerator network fiber was connected to the building and Ethan brought all the lines to the magnet and the various systems connected. Ethan also contacted the person in charge of the EPICS target motion driver to start debugging the new mechanics/electronics brought by Henry but I believe that person has not started working on it yet.
