4.1.6.6  Fire Alarms

In case of fire, immediately exit the area. As you exit, pull the nearest fire alarm. Once you are safely out of the area, call 911 for emergency assistance, and call extension 4444 to notify Jefferson Lab emergency personnel. If the fire is small enough to be controlled, you may use a fire extinguisher. Do this only if you have been properly trained and elect to do so. Always keep personal safety your first priority. Jefferson Lab is firmly committed to protecting the health and safety of its staff, users, and contractors. Ensuring that people are aware of hazards - and education in the proper operating and access procedures - is an important part of meeting this commitment. Your awareness of the hazards in the workplace and the care with which you carry out your work are the first line of defense against accidents and injuries. Always remember that NO activity is so urgent that safety may be compromised.
