5.3.3.10  The slow-control system

All controls and monitoring are handled by two Macintosh computers hosted by two VME crates and interconnected via an ethernet line (fig. 2.3.3.9, 2.3.3.10). The first (MacA) is in Hall A; on it runs the slow control program which interfaces directly to the electronics. The second one (MacB) is located in the counting room and it controls the target system through MacA.

Some of the controls and monitoring are also manual, which means that they are indipendent from the computer controlled system; the pump command is duplicated in the control room and in HallA together with the readings of the flowmeter and of the pump speed value. A manual command of step motors is in the HallA, the values of the optical encoder readings and of all the parameters are displayed in HallA racks and can be watched in the control room by a camera which is given by TJNAF Labs., and can be seen in the Counting Room.
