keyword=GEp/G2p status update and Run Plan sketch -- Friday
After some waiting associated with accelerator problems and a slow steer-up
into Hall B, we successfully got beam into our Hall around 4:30am. The
raster
settings were verified for production running and the beam was centered
on the
Target (this required some minor adjustments to the target ladder set
points):
Halog
366650.
Once the steer-up and centering was complete we asked for beam off to run
a TE
before polarizing. MCC has had cryo issues in the accelerator (1L02 region)
starting shortly after that. We have since completed the TE and
polarized the
target and are now waiting for MCC to beam fix the cryo issue and restore
beam.
When beam returns we will start with a BCM calorimeter run (at 50nA),
take some dilution study data, and then move into full production. DAQ
experts will use the BCM calibration time to double-check some questions
regarding the HRS triggers prior to production running.
- BCM calorimeter run (Alex/Pengia)
- Carbon, empty target dilution runs
- G2p production
- BPM/Harp runs (Alex/Pengia) -- this needs to happen, but
A detailed production runplan (as of this time) is attached to this Halog
(see
p. 2). The most up-to-date version of the runplan can be found
here
(PDF file).
Shift crew need to pay close attention to the following:
- Do a bleedthrough
check every 4--5 hours.
- Hall C will be flipping the IHWP every 4 hours. You
should be notified, but please pay attention! Stop and restart
our runs and make a Halog whenever the IHWP is flipped.
- Cryo has been somewhat unstable. Keep an
eye on the LHe levels for
the HRSs on the Hall A Tools screen (that is the "L(%)" column). If the
level
on a single magnet goes red -- stop the runs and ramp that magnet down
immediately: turn off regulation for that magnet, then open its power supply
control gui, input '0.0' into the current setpoint field, and hit return.
You
should see the current in the magnet ramp down to 0A. Halog this and
wait for
the LHe level to recover before ramping back up. If all the magnets LHe
levels start to fall, type 0.0 in the p0 field on for the relevant
spectrometer on the Hall A Tools screen to ramp all associated magnets
down at
once. If you (Shift Leader) do not know how to do this
-- ASK!
