Talk:Upgrade Plan Summer 2010
This is the summer "to do" list for the Hall A Moller polarimeter:
1. Replacement of bellows unit downstream of the Moller magnet.
2. The Moller magnet alignment: - to measure the magnet alignment as it is now; - to replace bellows unit downstream of the magnet; - to release a clamp on the Moller magnet support; - to adjust the magnet position, - to put the clamp; - to re-measure alignment of the magnet with clamp.
3. The Moller target foils replacement: - to replace foil #2 (1micron, 99.85% purity) with foil 4microns 99.99% purity; - to replace foil #4 (12.5micron 99.85% purity) with foil 10micron 99.99% purity; We would like to have two high resolution pictures of each (1-4) foils after replacement. One picture is to check foil warping, another one (with powerful light source (LED) from another side of the foil) is to check pinholes in the foil. There are examples in the attachment.
4. When the Moller target chamber will be open for the foils replacement it would be nice to measure magnetic field vs. power supply current in the center of the magnet.
5. There is a guess that the Moller target holder is bended. Transverse component of the foil polarization (and reducing of the longitudinal component) can be a result of it. When the Moller target chamber will be open it would be very useful to measure the possible bending of the target holder.
6. FADC upgrade (TBD)
7. Request MCC to do a measurement of moller Q1 for a new field map
