Tentative Agenda
- Sirish - beamline/accelerator
- Bob - DAQ status
- Vahe - photon det
- Alex - e- det status pdf
- Kent - field mapping
- Peiqing - Qweak e- det electronics
- Juliette - various e- det issues
- Next meeting time
Minutes
Attending: Juliette, Dipangkar, Greg, Bryan, Bob, Alex, Sirish, Ryan, Thia, Peiqing, Vahe, Kent, Mapalei
- beamline (Sirish)
- 12 GeV construction winding down, mostly finished
- beamline is being buttoned up
- pump down and final alignment soon
- synchrotron suppression design and installed, field mapping
- minor things for photon detector
- needs to be elevated
- interference with a scanning detector (above GSO crystal) - could hit the beamline (needs to be looked at)
- could commission without the scanning scintillators (radiation issue?)
- gearing up for commissioning/documentation
- getting beamline ready for commissioning in February
- DAQ Upgrade (Bob)
- commission old DAQ soon
- VXS-based pipelining CODA
- FADC - photon, VETROC - electron
- DT at 410 kHz
- by February could have this crate in the Hall and try to merge with CMU DAQ
- electron detector (Alex)
- time is too short to look at cosmics with scintillators
- can control the HV supplies for the thin and thick detectors remotely
- brackets for scintillator paddles never ordered
- removing from can and trying to test again
- photon detector (Vahe)
- GEANT 4 simulation of photon detector using Pb glass
- linearity, energy resolution
- more reliable than just energy deposition
- collimator and incident photons and detector
- generates Compton events
- simulations (future discussion)
- code from Sirish - whole chicane
- GEANT3 - Compton separate processes (Hall C)
- synchrotron radiation (used GEANT3) - lots of low energy photons... bremsstrahlung
- GEANT4 wins big in photon transport...
- field mapping (future discussion)
- never got into region where field was absolutely stable
- jump in measured field in bore
- report being worked on
- Qweak Compton electron detector electronics
- modified board from TRIUMF liquid Xenon project
- tests at JLAB showed noise and interchannel correlations
- crosstalk virtually eliminated in V3
- gain variation (trace routing - predictable) could be improved
- S/N ratio of final boards
- gains - 100mV/fC
- 8000 e-, noise as low as 100 e- per channel with calibration input
- diamond efficiency strip by strip different - some channels have very low numbers of electrons
- Kapton cables added capacitance
- single-channel prototype board - ask Jeff Martin - test single channels
- Next meeting first week of November?
