Before commissioning, the collaboration must produce an experiment specific hazard awareness document which describes all the hazards particular to the experiment. The document should also reference any procedures that must be followed, i.e. procedure for changing flammable gas bottles. This document must be read and understood by all members of the collaboration before they are authorized to work unescorted in the experiment area. The spokesperson must retain a record of all authorized experimenters.
Experimenters should note that a hazard map is posted at common
entrances to every
experimental hall. These hazard maps are posted and maintained by the
safety warden, and are
used to alert emergency response personnel to the types and locations of
unusual hazards that
may affect their normal response. It is the responsibility of the
experiment spokesperson to
ensure that the safety warden is aware of all unusual hazards associated
with the experiment.
