Continuing to look at where the missing protons are going. As stated at the last meeting, we are now down to a 10% variation of the proton yield with luminosity for the hydrogen runs.

Figures of interest, that MIGHT relate to what we are looking for, can be found under
http://hallaweb.jlab.org/experiment/E02-013/mtg/2007jun27/feuerbac.
Figure A
shows the reconstructed 1/beta vs. D.ctimeL1A and the BB scintillator time. You'll notice a large 'blob' at 1/beta near 0 for D.ctimeL1A at the retimed edge.

Figure
B
shows the 1/beta distributions for separate 1-d regions.

I have been saying the even in the retimed region, because the time difference between the L1A and the BB trigger are exactly measured we should be able to recover the data. And we do see good 1/beta peaks in the retimed region. However the cause of the "blob" is not understood.

For the curious, the working spreadsheet (open-office format) that contains what I've been looking at for the proton yields can be found at

Additional files from kin3, pass0a have been processed. A request has been made for more disk space, but when it will be available is uncertain. Bob has some disks coming in that he will let us use 800GB worth, and the Computing Center has been requested to assist in getting us our own disks.
