The correlation between beam current oscillations and oscillations in the
charge asymmetry still remains in most of the data taken over the last 24 hours.
However, the sign of the correlation flipped when the beam half-wave plate was
changed from OUT to IN before parity run 954. This should be a clue as to the
origin of the effect...eg. it is not an artifact of our electronics...
The oscillations in both quantities disappeared around 21:00 last night, then
reappeared around 4:00 AM or so; they became huge (+- 750 ppm for
runs 949 and 950), but have decreased since then somewhat to more typical
values of +- 200 ppm.
Starting again around 21:00 tonight (runs 965, 966) the oscillations largely
disappear and the charge asymmetry is beautifully small (15 ppm and
-10 ppm respectively). Run 966 is shown below...
