Target lab:
- Kathy:
- Goal: have a cell in spin-up before Christmas.
- Re-wrapped the oven pipe.
- Ameya is aligning the lasers.
- Kathy tested Nilanga's amplifier --> try matching the impedance and reducing the reflected power.
Small angle GDH:
- Vince:
- put together scaler analysis of Spin Duality.
- working on water calibration analysis.
- optics optimization.
- Jing:
- comparing results of the PID detector efficiency.
- Tim:
- reported on the hybrid sphere made at WM --> showed a clear NMR signal.
- looked at kin.9: BCM data looked good.
- Alexandre:
- study of the 2 step-contamination
--> looking only at the contribution coming from Berylium window
--> used better absolute quantity, right Be form factors and aluminum FF for glass.
--> got a factor 1.6 discrepancy.
--> Possible explanations: Al. FF, no multiple scattering in the simulation, solid angle calculation.
Spin duality analysis:
- Patricia:
- Found the problem with the deadtime calculation.
- Showed preliminary false asymmetries using only carbon runs. Jian-ping and Alexandre suggested to use all unpolarized target data.
- writting report on detector efficiencies.
Plan
- VDC and trigger efficiencies.
- Elastic analysis.
- Target analysis.

General:
- Jian-Ping:
- reported that 6 proposals and 4 letters of intent were submitted for PAC 25.
- He encouraged everybody to read them and attend the talks.
- reminded the upcoming GDH2004 meeting.
Target lab:
- Jing and Ameya:
- Ameya got a good water signal.
- Jing aligned the bottom laser line then Ameya will do the top one.
- Jian-Ping precised that 4 longitudinal lines are needed.
- Jian-Ping reported that William&Mary filled a cell. They don't know the lifetime yet.
Small angle GDH:
- Vince:
- finishig optimization of y_tg at 6deg.
- Used a quadratic function to fit the background under the water signals taken with the A-phi circuit.
- Jing:
- Working on PID analysis.
- Tim:
- working on the BCM calibration.
- got good results for high current now he will work on the low current data.
- Jaideep:
- was busy working for UVA lab.
- Now he will focus on the VDC and Beta calibration and analysis.
Spin duality analysis:
- Patricia:
- did Cerenkov cut efficiency analysis in a different way (read in Xiaochao's thesis).
- then re-ran the PID efficiency analysis with the new cuts on Cerenkov.
- regenerated the asymmetries after removing short runs and applying new PID cuts --> no obvious change in the asymmetries.
- listed runs with high charge and/or deadtime asymmetries.
- compared Ring Buffer and Scaler quantities: just for a few runs they disagree. Will have to find out the reason.
Plan
- Quick look at VDC and trigger efficiency.
- Elastic analysis.
- Target analysis.
